Is your website blocked from Google and other search engines? All your pages need to be visible to search engines like Google so they can see them and show them to people who are searching online.

How to check if your website is in Google

Go to your search bar and type in

site:your-domain-name.com

Do this now and notice the number of results you get

For example if it says

“About 96 results”

That means this site has about 96 pages that Google can find

How to fix this if your site is blocked and how to get your website on Google

1. Contact your web developer and ask them to check if the site is still being blocked from search engines. Most web developers will block a website when they are creating it and that is good practice. Occasionally they may forget to unblock it. (If you have a WordPress site, login to the dashboard and in the left hand column go to “Settings” and then go to “Reading”. Make sure the box is unticked next to the words “discourage search engines from finding this site)

2. Go to http://pingomatic.com fill in the name of your website (where it says “Blog Name”) and the home page url of your site where it says “Blog Home Page” and check all the “common services” press “Send Pings”

3. Send out a link to the home page of your website via Twitter, Facebook or Google Plus
